Outdoor practice starts in March as weather permits
Regular games begin in early April and run through the beginning of June. Grade 7/8 play about 20+ games; 5-6 play about 15+ games
Tournaments (drivable distance) are scheduled on a few weekends in April/May/early June (in lieu of regular games)
What is the time commitment associated with lacrosse?
It depends on the grade level
January/February practices are usually one-two times a week based on availability of indoor space
As soon as the weather breaks and outdoor practice can commence, 7/8 normally practices 5 times a week (unless one of the nights is a game); 5/6 normally practices 3+ times a week, 3/4 normally practices 2 times a week and K-2 normally practices 1 time a week.
Some games are on weekdays; most games are on Saturday and Sunday
What if my child cannot make all the practices?
Practice and game schedules will be published as far in advance as possible and the program will endeavor to schedule around important school events/functions. Players are required to attend ALL practices in their entirety. Absences and/or late arrivals/early departures from practices will be closely monitored and will negatively impact playing time in actual games week to week at the coaches' discretion. In an effort not to penalize those players who regularly attend practice, the coaches reserve the right not to play an individual in a game if he continually misses practice on a regular basis. The coaches also request that they are notified as far in advance as possible (preferably by email) if a player cannot attend a practice or game for any reason so that they can plan accordingly.
Where do we play practice and play games?
Practices in the January/February time frame are either at local school gyms or at Wildwood Indoor Facility on Wildwood Dr ( next to Wildwood Highlands)
Practices will probably take place Monday through Thursday (Fridays may be utilized) from 6:00-8:00 pm; number of days will vary by grade.
Games are played week days starting some time between 4:30-6:30 and on week-end mornings or afternoons, depending on the field availability for other teams.
Home games will be played at Santacroce Stadium at Richland Elementary, Richland Park, Treesdale, or PRHS Stadium.
Away games are played against local teams (NA, Hampton, Seneca Valley & Sewickley) and at other areas of the city (USC, Mt. Lebanon, Franklin Regional, etc).
Drivable-distance tournaments in April/May/early June have traditionally been in Ohio near Cleveland or at St. Vincent's College.
